Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card already has mature collector recognition, so short-term movement is usually driven by Rayquaza popularity, grading demand, and overall vintage EX market strength rather than explosive new supply shocks.
Next months. Likely to trade sideways to slightly upward, with graded copies holding firmer than raw copies.
Long term. Likely gradual appreciation over 1-3 years, especially for clean graded 9 and graded 10 copies, assuming continued Rayquaza collector demand.
History
Rayquaza is a Legendary Dragon/Flying Pokémon first introduced in the Hoenn region. In the Pokémon universe, it is the sky guardian who calms the clash between Kyogre and Groudon, giving it major significance in the franchise's lore and collector appeal.
First released in Dragons Exalted, the English Black & White-era expansion from 2012. The card appears as Rayquaza EX #85/124, an Ultra Rare Full Art card in the set.
- This is the full-art Ultra Rare version of Rayquaza EX from Dragons Exalted, distinct from the regular EX version in the same set.
- It is one of the most recognized Rayquaza chase cards from the Black & White era and remains popular with Rayquaza collectors.
- Market guides in 2026 show strong graded-demand pressure, with graded 10 values far above raw copies.
Collector notes
Condition. Check the full-art surface for holo scratches, edge whitening, corner dings, centering, and print lines. Full-art EX cards often show visible wear on the border and foil layer, and Rayquaza cards are frequently off-center because of the artwork frame.
Storage. Store in a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder immediately, then keep in a cool, dry, low-light environment. For higher-value copies, consider a graded slab or team bag plus binder-free archival storage.
Authenticity. Verify the set symbol, card number, texture/foil pattern, font sharpness, and HP/attack text layout. Fakes often have flat foiling, blurry text, incorrect border color, and weaker texture on the full-art surface. Compare against a known authentic copy, especially around the 85/124 numbering and EX formatting.
